Path of Exile is a free-to-play action RPG from New Zealand studio Grinding Gear Games, a spiritual successor to Diablo II: a massive passive skill tree, skill gems socketed into equipment, and a complex Atlas map endgame. The game launched in 2013 and is still kept alive by its leagues. A league is a temporary game world with its own mechanic and its own economy. On launch day everyone rolls a new character, trading starts from zero, and the first hours decide who farms currency before prices settle. When a league ends, characters move over to the permanent Standard league. The current league is 3.29 "Curse of the Allflame", which started on July 24, 2026. The studio hasn't announced the next one, 3.30, yet. The name and date are usually revealed on a stream two to three weeks before launch, and launches go live on Fridays at 13:00 Pacific time. Based on the rhythm of recent years, we expect it in early December. Path of Exile 2 is a separate game with its own leagues and has its own page on DAYSTART.
