Marathon is a sci-fi extraction shooter from Bungie, the studio behind Halo and Destiny. Runners in cybernetic shells drop onto the Tau Ceti IV colony, grab loot and try to extract before other crews intercept them. The game is buy-to-play, with crossplay between PC and consoles. On October 6, 2026, Bungie wipes progress and the in-game economy for all players. The studio said Season 2, "Nightfall", pushed players apart by level too quickly. The wipe comes with a new rewards pass and balance changes, and the Vault Breaker mode returns temporarily. The next major update, Symbiosis, arrives December 8, 2026. It adds the first permanent PvE mode, a reworked Perimeter zone, a new runner shell and an experimental team fight. Bungie has also scrapped its rigid seasonal schedule, so wipes will now come via separate announcements.
